Book & Stage Store – Author Sales Terms & Conditions

1. Scope of Agreement

These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between Book & Stage Store (“Book & Stage”) and independent authors, publishers and creators wishing to sell books or approved book-related products through the Book & Stage Store website and/or at Book & Stage affiliated events.

By submitting products for sale, you (“the Seller”) agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.

2. Seller Responsibilities

2.1 Product Information

You must provide accurate and up-to-date information for all products submitted for sale, including:

Book cover image or product photograph
Product description
Retail price
ISBN (where applicable)
Relevant content warnings
Safety information and warnings (where applicable)

You remain responsible for ensuring all information supplied is accurate and complies with applicable laws and regulations.

Book & Stage reserves the right to edit product descriptions for consistency, formatting, clarity and compliance.

2.2 Pricing

You are responsible for setting the retail price of your products.

Book & Stage reserves the right to decline products where pricing appears misleading or inconsistent with market expectations.

3. Content Warnings

Where appropriate, Sellers should provide content warnings for material that may be distressing to some readers.

Examples may include:

Abuse (physical, emotional or sexual)
Domestic violence
Self-harm or suicide
Mental health themes
Trauma
Substance misuse

Book & Stage reserves the right to request additional information where necessary.

4. Product Safety & Compliance

For books, gifts and merchandise, you confirm that:

Products comply with relevant UK legislation
Products are safe for their intended use
Packaging is suitable for shipping and handling
Any required safety warnings are clearly displayed

For products intended for children, you must provide any legally required warnings and age recommendations.

Book & Stage reserves the right to refuse products that may present safety, legal or reputational concerns.

5. Insurance & Liability

By listing products through Book & Stage Store, you confirm that:

You are solely responsible for the safety, quality, legality, fulfilment and delivery of your products.
You are responsible for ensuring your products comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
You agree that Book & Stage Store assumes no legal liability for injuries, damages, losses, defects, delays or claims arising from your products, packaging, fulfilment or delivery.
You waive any claim against Book & Stage Store arising from the sale, supply, delivery or use of your products.
You may indicate whether you hold Public Liability Insurance and/or Product Liability Insurance, however the existence or absence of such insurance does not alter this waiver.

Where applicable, Sellers are encouraged to maintain appropriate Public Liability and Product Liability Insurance.

6. Orders & Fulfilment

6.1 Online Orders

Order Handling

Order details will be provided to you electronically following a customer purchase.

You must dispatch all orders within 5 calendar days of receiving the order unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Book & Stage Store reserves the right to suspend listings where orders are repeatedly dispatched late.

Postage

Book & Stage Store uses standardised postage rates across the platform.

You may request amendments to postage charges, however:

Any changes will apply only to future orders.
Changes cannot be applied retrospectively.
Book & Stage Store reserves the right to reject postage amendments considered excessive or unreasonable.
You are responsible for any difference between the postage charged to the customer and the actual postage cost incurred.
You may request removal of your products from sale at any time by providing written notice.

6.2 Event Sales

For live events operated by Author Events and/or Book & Stage:

Sellers must provide book titles, quantities and prices in advance
Products must be delivered to the event as instructed
Additional products or price changes may not be accepted on the day
Book & Stage reserves the right to limit stock quantities due to available space
Unsold stock remains the responsibility of the Seller and must be collected at the end of the event unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance.

Commission will be deducted before payment is made to the Seller.

7. Commission & Payments

A standard commission rate of 20% will be applied to all sales.

Author Events Members benefit from a discounted commission rate of 15%.

Commission includes payment processing fees, administration and promotional costs. No further deductions will be made unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Payment Schedule

Payments will normally be made monthly for online sales and will be accompanied by a sales summary showing:

Products sold
Gross revenue
Commission deducted
Net payment due

Book & Stage reserves the right to amend commission rates in future, providing reasonable notice.

8. Data Protection

Customer information supplied for order fulfilment may only be used for fulfilling that specific order.

Sellers must not:

Add customers to mailing lists
Use customer data for marketing purposes
Share customer information with third parties

All parties agree to comply with UK GDPR and applicable data protection legislation.

9. Suspension & Removal

Book & Stage reserves the right to refuse, suspend or remove products where:

Products breach these Terms
Safety concerns arise
Orders are repeatedly not fulfilled
Customer complaints remain unresolved
Information supplied is inaccurate or misleading

Sellers may request removal of their products at any time by providing written notice.

10. Changes to These Terms

Book & Stage reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The latest version will always be available on the Book & Stage website.

11. Agreement

By submitting products for sale through Book & Stage Store, you confirm that:

You have the legal right to sell the products submitted
The information supplied is accurate
You accept responsibility for fulfilment and compliance
You agree to these Terms & Conditions in full
