Fiction : Historical – Early Medieval / Family Saga

Alex (A J) Proudfoot writes historical fiction novels about his earliest known ancestors who established the kingdom of Wessex between Oxfordshire and Hampshire during the 5th-7th century.

After taking early retirement in 2018, Alex spent his free time tracing his Proudfoot family history back over 1,500 years to his ancestors who shaped Britain’s history in a world shrouded in legend.

Alex uses his research and love of history to create a new authentic interpretation of the lives of his Romano-British forefathers. This led to the publication of his debut novel, Rise of the First Wessex King, in July 2024.
