Author Events is built on community, connection, and creativity. But don’t just take our word for it — here’s what writers and editors have to say about their experiences.
Gary Dalkin, Editor, To The Last Word:
“As a writer and editor I love being part of the ever-expanding network of services offered by Author Events, founded and run by best-selling psychological thriller author Alex Stone (The Quiet Sister, The Missing Boyfriend). It can be a bit tricky to pin down exactly what Author Events is, as just some of what it encompasses includes a real world ‘Author Marketplace’ at various locations; online directories (of authors, services for writers, upcoming festivals and conferences, etc.); an always fascinating in-depth fortnightly blog by a guest expert writer; a Facebook group; and numerous chances to meet other writers in a friendly environment away from a computer. And this latter is, for me, writing and editing generally being a solitary business, the aspect of Author Events I enjoy the most.
While there are several excellent regular Meet Ups, the crown jewel is the monthly Author Talk, which is sometimes a conversation with a single author (bestselling writers Jackie Kabler and Alice G. May among them) other times, a panel of writers from a particular genre (crime, romance and horror this year). The Author Talk is usually, though not always, hosted by Alex herself, and is not just free, but highly informative, a great social occasion and tremendous fun. And when you spend all day alone with a word processor the value of those last two aspects can’t be overstated. I go home afterwards exhilarated, my head spinning with ideas and possibilities.
All that said, whatever your needs as a writer, and yours may be quite different from mine, Author Events almost certainly has something for you. Just give it a try.”
