Coastal Crime and Southampton Central Library present a new series of live crime-writing events.
Join us at Southampton Central Library for an hour of conversation with some of today’s most exciting crime writers, hosted by crime author MA Hunter.
Watching the Detectives
Crime Fiction, Social Issues and Hidden Voices
From amateur sleuths and private investigators to professional detectives, crime fiction gives writers countless ways to uncover not just a mystery, but the world surrounding it.
Join AJ Hill, Jo Middleton and JS Morton for a lively conversation about the detectives at the heart of their stories and how crime fiction can shine a light on contemporary social issues, overlooked experiences and voices that aren’t always heard.
How do you choose the right kind of investigator for a story? Can an outsider see things that the authorities might miss? And how can writers explore real social issues while still delivering the pace, suspense and intrigue readers expect from a great crime novel?
There’ll also be an opportunity to put your own questions to the authors.
Part of Coastal Crime Presents, our year-round programme of author conversations and crime fiction events in partnership with Southampton Central Library.
