Coastal Crime and Southampton Central Library present a new series of live crime-writing events.
Join us at Southampton Central Library for an hour of conversation with some of today’s most exciting crime writers, hosted by crime author MA Hunter.
Crime in the Suburbs
Murder, Mystery and a Strong Sense of Place
Behind every respectable front door, quiet cul-de-sac and seemingly ordinary neighbourhood, there could be a story waiting to unfold.
Join Jayne Chard, Rebecca Smith and Jane McParkes for a lively conversation about bringing crime and mystery into familiar, everyday settings, and why the places we think we know best can make such compelling backdrops for a crime novel.
How do writers turn ordinary communities into settings filled with secrets and suspicion? What makes a fictional neighbourhood feel real? And how do humour, character and a strong sense of place sit alongside murder, mystery and darker themes?
There’ll also be an opportunity to put your own questions to the authors.
Part of Coastal Crime Presents, our year-round programme of author conversations and crime fiction events in partnership with Southampton Central Library.
