Signed copies of your book(s) are listed for sale through our partner, The Book Hub (an online SumUp shop).

• Payments are processed securely by The Book Hub on your behalf
• You receive an order notification including:
  • Book title
  • Dedication message (if any)
  • Shipping address
• You dispatch the book directly to the customer
• The Book Hub charges a discounted 15% commission on all sales for Author Events members (standard rate is 20%)

🎄 Christmas Party at Sobo:Sommelier (9 December)

• Drop off books between 5:30–6:30pm on the day of the event (or contact us to arrange alternatives)
• A team of volunteers will handle on-the-day sales
• Space is limited — we’ll confirm what we can accommodate
• Unsold stock must be collected by the end of the event
• The Book Hub charges a discounted 15% commission on all sales for Author Events members (standard rate is 20%)

We love supporting creative authors and makers! If you have book-themed gifts or products, our partner, The Book Hub, would love to hear more However, due to limited space, we can’t accept all items.

• We’ll review your submission and confirm if we can stock it via our partner, The Book Hub, online and/or at the Christmas Party.

Terms & Conditions

1. Scope of Agreement

This agreement sets the terms under which independent authors may list and sell books and merchandise via The Book Hub online platform.

By submitting products for sale through The Book Hub, you (“The Author”) agree to these terms in full.

2. Author Responsibilities

2.1 Product Listing

• You must provide a clear cover graphic (for books) or photograph (for merchandise), as well as an accurate description, list of materials used, and any necessary safety information or warnings.
• You must provide a list of relevant trigger warnings for each book.
• You are responsible for setting the sale price for your product.
• The Book Hub reserves the right to edit listings for clarity, format, or compliance.

3. Risk & Compliance

3.1 Trigger Warnings & Content Sensitivity

Trigger warnings must be supplied for content involving:

• Abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual)
• Trauma, mental illness, self-harm, or suicide
• Domestic violence
• Any other potentially distressing content

3.2 Risk Assessment

You are required to:

• Conduct a basic risk assessment of all physical products
• Ensure packaging is safe and suitable for postage
• Ensure small parts, potential choking hazards, or materials requiring specific warnings are clearly marked

All items must comply with The Book Hub’s Risk Policy and Terms & Conditions.

3.3 Insurance & Liability Waiver

By signing this agreement, you confirm that:

• You are solely responsible for the safety and delivery of your products
• You agree that The Book Hub assumes no legal liability for injuries, damages, or losses caused by your products or packaging
• You waive any liability claims against The Book Hub

You may indicate whether you hold Public and Product Liability Insurance, but this does not affect the waiver.

4. Fulfilment & Postage

4.1 Order Handling

• Customer order details will be provided to you via a secure Google Drive folder accessible only by invitation.
• You must ship all orders within 5 calendar days of receiving the order.

4.2 Postage

• The Book Hub uses standardised postage rates for all orders.
• You may request changes to your listed postage rates, but:
  • Revisions cannot apply retrospectively to existing orders
  • The Book Hub reserves the right to reject postage updates we consider excessive or unsuitable
• You are responsible for any difference between the charged shipping cost and the actual postage used
• You reserve the right to remove your product from sale at any time by providing written notice

5. Payment Terms

• Payment Schedule
  Payments will be made to authors monthly, on or around the last business day of each month.
• Commission

• A standard commission rate of 20% will be applied to all sales.
• Author Events members benefit from a discounted commission rate of 15%.
• Commission covers all processing fees and administration. No further deductions will be made.
• Commission rates may be reviewed from time to time, with advance notice given of any changes.
• Transparency
  A sales report will be provided with each payment, showing books sold, gross revenue, deductions, and net payment.

6. Data Use & Privacy

• Customer data (name, delivery address, order info) will be shared only for the purpose of fulfilling that specific order
• You must not use this data for marketing, storage, or any other purpose
• The Book Hub remains the data controller and all processing must comply with UK GDPR

7. Termination

The Book Hub reserves the right to suspend or remove your listings if:

• Safety concerns arise
• Orders are not fulfilled within policy limits
• There are repeated customer complaints

You may remove your listing with at least 7 days’ notice.

8. Agreement

By listing a product with The Book Hub, you confirm that:

• You accept these terms in full
• You have completed or will complete a basic product risk assessment
• You accept responsibility for fulfilment and legal compliance
• You release The Book Hub from any product-related liability
