About Author Events

✍️ Our Story

Author Events, founded by author Alex Stone, has grown into a vibrant network of events that support writers at every stage of their journey.

We’re passionate about building spaces — both in-person and online — where creativity and connection flourish.

📚 What We Do

From casual coffee catch-ups to curated author conversations, we offer something for everyone in the writing world:

  • Author Meet-Up Events (includes Books & Brews)
Local author coffee mornings and evening gatherings — relaxed, friendly, and perfect for chatting craft and community.
  • Author Talk Series (includes Books & Bubbles)
Our popular Books & Bubbles interview evenings at SoBo:Sommelier with Alex Stone have been such a hit that we’re expanding!

Our much-loved SoBo events will continue to bring readers and authors together for lively, in-person conversations — with a glass of something* in hand. But now, we’re also heading online with our brand-new Author Talk series, bringing the same engaging spirit to a wider audience — from the comfort of home.

We’re delighted to welcome Kathleen Whyman, bestselling author of humorous women’s fiction, to the team. Kathleen will lead our online Author Talk interviews with authors across women’s fiction and romance, opening up fresh conversations for readers, writers, and publishing professionals alike.

*P.S. Don’t let the name fool you — there’s no obligation to drink bubbles!
Our events are held at SoBo:Sommelier, a wine bar that serves everything from cocktails and craft beer to tea, coffee, and soft drinks. Entry is free, and you’re welcome to order whatever you’d like!

  • Author Academy – Our exciting new Author Academy will bring together practical workshops, Ask the Expert sessions, and an inspiring podcast to help writers strengthen their craft, grow their confidence, and connect with the writing world.
  • The Book Hub
A vibrant space — online and in person — where books, authors, and readers connect.

At The Book Hub, you’ll find:
    • Signed paperbacks and bookish gifts in our online shop
    • In-person Meet the Author experiences where you can get books signed, chat with authors, and discover new voices. There are also opportunities for writers to connect with publishers, editors, magazine teams, and marketing professionals

It’s more than a book signing: it’s a place to chat, network, pitch, and learn from every corner of the publishing world. Whether you’re looking for your next great read or your next career step, The Book Hub is where connections are made.
  • Upcoming:
    • Writing LoungesLaunching August 2025, our new Writing Lounges offer informal, individual writing time in a warm, welcoming environment.
